So, what is K-Pop?

-K-Pop is short for Korean Popular Music. It is a form of popular music originating in South Korea as part of South Korean culture. It includes styles and genres from around the world, such as pop, hip hop, R&B, rock, jazz, gospel, reggae, electronic dance, folkcountrydisco, and classical on top of its traditional Korean music roots.

Section 1: ENHYPEN

The final seven contestants from the reality competition I-LAND are known as ENHYPEN (엔하이픈). They are signed to BE:LIFT Lab, a joint venture between HYBE and CJ E&M Entertainment (formerly known as BigHit Entertainment). Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon, and Ni-ki make up the group. Members of ENHYPEN will connect, learn about one another, and grow together. ENHYPEN is a combination of an en dash and a hyphen that joins distinct words to create new meaning. The title track "Given-Taken" from ENHYPEN's debut mini-album "BORDER: DAY ONE" was released on November 30th, 2020.

Section 2: aespa

South Korean girl group aespa, abbreviated as æspa, has four members and is managed by SM Entertainment. Karina, Giselle, Winter, and NingNing make up the group. The digital song "Black Mamba" served as their debut release on November 17, 2020. Aespa struck a deal with Warner Records on June 2, 2022, for worldwide promotions.

Section 3: BLACKPINK

Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa are the 4 members of the girl group BLACKPINK (블랙핑크). The band made its public debut on August 8th, 2016 with the release of "Square One," their first single album. BLACKPINK officially partnered with Interscope Records on October 23, 2018.

Section 4: LE SSERAFIM

A five-member girl group called LE SSERAFIM (르세라핌) is under by HYBE and Source Music. Chaewon, Sakura, Yunjin, Kazuha, and Eunchae are the current members. The first mini album "FEARLESS" by LE SSERAFIM, which was released on May 2, 2022, served as their official debut.

Section 5: TWICE

Jihyo, Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu make up the female group TWICE (트와이스). On October 20, 2015, JYP Entertainment's survival program Sixteen hosted the group's premiere. JYPE will work with Republic Records starting in February 2020 to market TWICE internationally.

Section 6: EVERGLOW

EVERGLOW (에버글로우) is a girl group under Yuehua Entertainment. There are six members: SihyeonE:UMiaOndaAisha and Yiren. They debuted on March 18, 2019 with the title track “Bon Bon Chocolat” and single album “Arrival of Everglow”. However Yuehua considers the date of their debut and anniversary March 21, 2019.

Section 7: ATEEZ

Eight members make up the boy band ATEEZ (에이티즈)), formerly known as KQ Fellaz and managed by KQ Entertainment. Seonghwa, Hongjoong, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, Wooyoung, and Jongho make up the group. They collaborated with another trainee named Junyoung to release the pre-debut song 'From' on July 9, 2018. The mini-album "Treasure Ep.1: All to Zero" and the title singles "Pirate King" and "Treasure" were released by the group on October 24, 2018. ATEEZ signed with American musical label RCA Records on July 8, 2019. Since 2019, they have also been affiliated with the Japanese record company Nippon Columbia.

Section 9: SEVENTEEN

The K-Pop boy band Seventeen (세븐틴) has 13 members: S.coups, Wonwoo, Mingyu, and Vernon make up the hip-hop unit; Woozi, Jeonghan, Joshua, DK, and Seungkwan make up the vocal unit; and Hoshi, Jun, The8 and Dino make up the performance unit. Under Pledis Entertainment, Seventeen made their debut on May 26, 2015, with the release of the mini album "17 Carat" and the first single, "Adore You."
Big Hit Entertainment (now known as HYBE Labels) surpassed Pledis as the label's largest stakeholder as of May 25, 2020, however Pledis will continue to operate independently.

Section 10: NCT (All Units)

The first unit of the boy group NCT is called NCT U (). NCT U doesn't have set members, so the group's lineup varies depending on which members best suit each comeback, OST, or dance stage. On April 9, 2016, SM Entertainment introduced NCT U.

The NCT 127 is the second unit of the boy group NCT. Taeil, Johnny, Taeyong, Yuta, Doyoung, Jaehyun, Winwin, Jungwoo, Mark, and Haechan are among the sub-unit's ten members. On July 7th, 2016, SM Entertainment's NCT 127 made their debut with the EP NCT#127.

NCT Dream (엔씨티 Dream) is the third sub-unit of the boy group NCT. The sub-unit consists of 7 members:  Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Chenle, Jaemin and JisungNCT Dream debuted on August 25, 2016 under SM Entertainment.

Section 11: IVE

IVE (아이브) is a 6-member South Korean girl group under Starship Entertainment. The group currently consists of An Yujin, Gaeul, Rei, Jang Wonyoung, Liz, and Leeseo. They officially debuted on December 1st, 2021 with the single album “Eleven”.

Section 12: BTS

Seven members make up the South Korean boy band BTS: RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. They are a part of HYBE Labels' Big Hit Music division. The lead track from the album "2 Cool 4 Skool," "No More Dream," marked BTS's debut on June 13, 2013. BigHit Music said on June 15, 2022 that BTS will not go on break but would instead concentrate on making solo music for a while.
